Estic molt emocionat: acabo de guanyar una beca per participar en el Master<\/b> in Quantum <\/b>Science<\/b> and<\/b> Technologies <\/b>a Barcelona.<\/p>\n

A m\u00e9s d\u2019aprendre m\u00e9s sobre el fascinant m\u00f3n de la f\u00edsica qu\u00e0ntica, posar\u00e9 les bases per la meva carrera professional en un camp en plena expansi\u00f3 que promet modelar les tecnologies del futur.<\/p>\n

Aix\u00f2 no \u00e9s tot: la beca em permetr\u00e0 con\u00e8ixer un pa\u00eds diferent i entrar en contacte amb una cultura diferent.<\/p>\n

S\u00f3c farmac\u00e8utic i en el meu treball la precisi\u00f3 de la meva balan\u00e7a <\/b>\u00e9s fonamental per a la preparaci\u00f3 de f\u00f3rmules magistrals. Per aquesta ra\u00f3, la faig recalibrar cada any: quan ho vaig fer en 2019, em van explicar que aquell any va canviar la definici\u00f3 de quilogram<\/b> en el Sistema Internacional d\u2019Unitats. Ara la definici\u00f3 de la unitat de pes que s’utilitza arreu del m\u00f3n est\u00e0 basada en una constant universal, la constant de <\/b>Planck<\/b>, que juga un paper fonamental a la f\u00edsica qu\u00e0ntica.<\/p>\n

Hi ha molta gent preocupada per saber quina interpretaci\u00f3 de la f\u00edsica qu\u00e0ntica \u00e9s la correcta <\/b>i descriu verdaderament el m\u00f3n en qu\u00e8 vivim. Jo trobo que \u00e9s una q\u00fcesti\u00f3 for\u00e7a irrellevant, ja que l\u2019\u00e8xit de la f\u00edsica qu\u00e0ntica est\u00e0 en la predicci\u00f3 de nombrosos fen\u00f2mens que s\u2019han comprovat experimentalment<\/b>.<\/p>\n

En el fons, aix\u00f2 \u00e9s l\u2019\u00fanic que ens resulta \u00fatil i que ens permet seguir avan\u00e7ant!<\/p>\n

Moltes de les tecnologies d’\u00fas habitual a dia d’avui estan basades en fen\u00f2mens que troben la seva explicaci\u00f3 a la f\u00edsica qu\u00e0ntica.<\/p>\n

Exemples: els l\u00e0sers<\/b>, els transistors que son a la base de l’electr\u00f2nica<\/b>, sistemes d’imatge per resson\u00e0ncia magn\u00e8tica (MRI)<\/b>, c\u00e8l\u00b7lules<\/b> fotovoltaiques<\/b>, els LEDs<\/b>, el GPS<\/b>, …<\/p>\n

Totes aquestes tecnologies, imprescindibles per a la vida moderna, formen el que es coneix com la primera revoluci\u00f3 qu\u00e0ntica<\/b>.<\/p>\n

A l\u2019ICFO es troben alguns dels racons m\u00e9s freds del m\u00f3n, per\u00f2 ning\u00fa hi pot entrar. En aquests llocs la temperatura \u00e9s m\u00e9s baixa que a l\u2019espai profund: nom\u00e9s unes petites fraccions de grau (centenars de <\/b>nanok\u00e8lvins<\/b>) per sobre del zero absolut.<\/p>\n

Nom\u00e9s uns pocs laboratoris del m\u00f3n poden reproduir aquestes condicions en petites cambres de buit, on poden atrapar petites quantitats d\u2019\u00e0toms (des de pocs milions fins a un de sol, depenent de l\u2019experiment): per poder estudiar les interessants propietats qu\u00e0ntiques que apareixen a aquestes temperatures tan <\/b>baixes,<\/b> \u00e9s fonamental que els \u00e0toms estiguin el m\u00e9s freds (i per tant el m\u00e9s quiets) possible.<\/p>\n
