Fa uns dies vaig veure com la meva filla de dos anys intentava (sense \u00e8xit) fer lliscar la p\u00e0gina d\u2019un diari amb el seu dit. Per a una persona com ella, que va n\u00e9ixer en un m\u00f3n on hi ha pantalles per tot arreu<\/b>, fins i tot a la nevera, \u00e9s natural pensar de poder interactuar amb qualsevol superf\u00edcie o paraula escrita.<\/p>\n

Aix\u00f2 no seria possible si durant els \u00faltims anys les pantalles no haguessin millorat tant, guanyant en definici\u00f3 i funcionalitat. Qui hauria pogut imaginar poder interactuar de manera tan intu\u00eftiva amb una m\u00e0quina fa unes d\u00e8cades?<\/p>\n

Com visc a un poble petit de muntanya amb poques botigues, m\u2019he acostumat a comprar tot el que necessiti per internet. Tot i aix\u00ed, hi ha molta gent al poble, inclosa la meva \u00e0via, que s\u2019estima m\u00e9s passar-se una hora en cotxe per a baixar a la ciutat que posar les seves dades a internet, perqu\u00e8 t\u00e9 por dels atacs de pirates inform\u00e0tics.<\/p>\n

Malgrat que aquest sigui un perill important, jo estic tranquil\u00b7la, doncs vaig llegir que hi ha tamb\u00e9 molta gent que es dedica a estudiar noves maneres de millorar la seguretat de les nostres comunicacions<\/b>, i sembla que les t\u00e8cniques m\u00e9s prometedores tinguin a veure amb les propietats ex\u00f2tiques de la f\u00edsica qu\u00e0ntica!<\/p>\n

La diversitat \u00e9s un element clau per poder trobar solucions creatives i originals als problemes: per aix\u00f2 \u00e9s important que en un centre de recerca cient\u00edfica hi hagi molta diversitat. A l\u2019ICFO, hi ha gent de m\u00e9s de 60 nacionalitats que tenen formaci\u00f3 diversa<\/b> (hi ha persones que van estudiar f\u00edsica, qu\u00edmica, enginyeria, biologia, neuroci\u00e8ncia, matem\u00e0tica, inform\u00e0tica, …): amb aquesta barreja de cultures, idiomes i experi\u00e8ncies \u00e9s m\u00e9s f\u00e0cil crear un ambient obert i tolerant on les noves idees poden prosperar i cr\u00e9ixer.<\/p>\n

La f\u00edsica qu\u00e0ntica descriu el m\u00f3n a escala at\u00f2mica i molecular: en els darrers anys, la comunitat cient\u00edfica ha apr\u00e8s a aprofitar-se dels fen\u00f2mens que apareixen a <\/b>escala <\/b>microsc\u00f2pica per crear noves tecnologies<\/b>.<\/p>\n

S\u2019espera que les tecnologies qu\u00e0ntiques millorin la manera d\u2019estudiar alguns sistemes f\u00edsics, la seguretat de les nostres comunicacions, la rapidesa de c\u00e0lcul dels ordinadors i la sensibilitat dels sensors.<\/p>\n

Amb m\u00e9s de la meitat dels seus grups treballant en aquests camps, l\u2019ICFO suma els seus esfor\u00e7os als d\u2019altres centres de recerca i empreses formant part activa de xarxes a nivell local (QuantumCAT<\/b>) i internacional (European<\/b> Quantum <\/b>Flagship<\/b>) que tenen com objectiu accelerar l\u2019arribada d\u2019aquestes tecnologies a l\u2019abast de la societat.<\/p>\n

Estan emergent noves tecnologies qu\u00e0ntiques<\/b> que prometen revolucionar el m\u00f3n de la informaci\u00f3 i de la comunicaci\u00f3: per aprofitar al m\u00e0xim aquest potencial, la Uni\u00f3 Europea, est\u00e0 planejant la construcci\u00f3 d\u2019una infraestructura per a les comunicacions qu\u00e0ntiques<\/b>, que permetria connectar dispositius qu\u00e0ntics, arribant a formar una internet qu\u00e0ntica. Aquesta infraestructura aprofitar\u00e0 la xarxa de fibra \u00f2ptica actual per connexions de curta i mitja dist\u00e0ncia i hi combinar\u00e0 sat\u00e8l\u00b7lits per cobrir les dist\u00e0ncies m\u00e9s llargues. D\u2019aquesta manera, gr\u00e0cies a la f\u00edsica qu\u00e0ntica, es protegiran les dades m\u00e9s sensibles com les personals, financeres, governamentals, aix\u00ed com la xarxa el\u00e8ctrica, el control aeri, o el sistema sanitari.<\/p>\n

El temps i recursos disponibles per resoldre els problemes importants que afecten la societat s\u00f3n limitats. Imagina’t ser part de la comissi\u00f3 que ha de decidir com invertir la partida de diners destinada a la recerca fot\u00f2nica a escala europea pels pr\u00f2xims anys: sabent que la fot\u00f2nica beneficia la societat en moltes maneres diferents<\/b>, com distribuiries els fons entre els diferents camps de recerca en fot\u00f2nica?<\/p>\n

Aquesta no \u00e9s una decisi\u00f3 individual: cada grup ha d\u2019arribar a una conclusi\u00f3 un\u00e0nime discutint de manera correcta i racional basada en els fets que heu apr\u00e8s fins ara.
